Furniture plays a great role in any interior design. Furniture is an industrial or craft-based design used to support human activities. Interior designers use existing or new, built-in, custom designed, or ready-made furniture. Every piece of furniture is made with THE user’s needs in mind.

Interior Designing students of INIFD Ahmedabad are encouraged to carry out Case Study practices thus developing their perception skills as well as innovating their minds with ideas!

INIFD Gurukul Ahmedabad hereby displays a unique and creative Case study performed by third semester Interior Designing student Hetvi Shah, where she designed a side table and a foot stool by getting inspired from Wassily chair!

The student started with the Wassily Chair, also known as the Model B3 chair, was designed by Marcel Breuer in 1925-1926 while he was the head of the cabinet-making workshop at the Bauhaus, in Dessau, Germany.

To add more comfort, foot stool and side table were the new ideas developed by Hetvi Shah. She started with the designing of plan and later side as well as front elevation for the stool as well as table.

The materials specifications used by her are a tubular steel frame and leather on top. Steel tubes are weld to make frame and bolt is used to join tubes. The fabric used was made from Eisengarn-strong, shiny, waxed-cotton thread.

Conclusion:

To discover the talent & creativity of the interior designing students, INIFD Gurukul Ahmedabad supports them by offering the exposure of case study of furniture which will not only make a strong foundation in terms of furniture designing but will also sharpen their skills.
